Create Your Own Halloween Costume

Years ago, when we were kids, we either dressed up as hobos or if our parents could afford it, we bought Halloween costumes. Today, with all of the different heroes kids watch on TV or in the movies, creating unique costumes is a cinch. Here are some suggestions for homemade Halloween costumes your child may wish to consider.

* Spiderman * Fruit * Christmas tree * Gift Box * Harry Potter * The Wizard of Oz * Dorothy with Toto * A favorite book * A chef * A favorite rock star * A gypsy * A fortune teller * A dancer * A magician * Neo, from the Matrix * A clock * A queen * A court jester * Elvis * Any kind of animal * An angel * A devil * A hippy * A waitress * The Statue of Liberty * Frosty the Snowman

These are just some suggestions, but there are hundreds more which can be used to create the perfect Halloween costume. Some of these can be made with fabric, while others can be made with placards or cardboard. Check out the many websites online which will give you plenty of ideas. Although most kids today know who they want to be, there may be additional ideas which may be helpful to them online.

Some of the costumes which you can readily make at home also include: a princess, a ghost, a mummy, a witch, a butterfly, a scarecrow, a clown, an 80’s punk rocker, or a little old lady or man.

Making costumes at home is not only fun for the whole family, but you can begin a scrapbook as well. Every year, pictures of the creative costumes your kids wore can be added. Moreover, these are memories that will last a lifetime for you, your kids, and their kids as well.
