Tanning: Which Way Is The Right Way?

With summer approaching, you may be thinking about acquiring a tan. As we all know, spending too much time in the sun may cause skin problems or even cancer. There are ways in which you can obtain a tan without getting in the sun; however, some come with potential risks. Let’s discuss tanning and which way is the right way for you.

While the effects of the sun on the body has become more risky; you can develop a bronzed look if you refrain from spending too much time in the sun, and follow these tips. Exposing your body for short amounts of time is safe, provided you use sunscreen. The recommended application is SPF15. Use the cream about twenty minutes before you expose your skin to the sun. It is also recommended that you apply the sunscreen every two hours and every forty minutes after swimming.

Tanning beds have also become a popular alternative to sun bathing. Here, you can control the amount of rays you receive, thus minimizing any ill affects. If you plan on going to a tanning salon, here are some tips to remember: Wear sunglasses; use lip balm; check with your doctor, if you are under any type of medication, which can cause a negative reaction to the UV light; be sure to use lotion on your skin beforehand, since experts comment that “moist skin tans best.”

The last method for obtaining a tan is by using a sunless tanning product. This is especially good for people who do not tan as easily as others do or who develop burns when exposed to the sun. The products available today are safe and effective. You can use them whenever you wish, to give your skin a healthy look.

Whatever method for tanning you choose, be careful not to expose your body to extensive amounts of rays; whether utilizing indoor tanning beds, or lying on a beach, or in your backyard. Invest in the best sunscreen you can find. Remember to where sunglasses and lip balm, and your tanning experience will not only be enjoyable, but will afford you a healthy and radiant look.

Tip: Ensure the bridge of your nose is sufficiently covered with sunscreen. Without it, the sunglasses may burn the bridge of your nose, leaving a red blotch that may not go away.
